Overnight in Athens. Day 2: ATHENS Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning city tour of Athens which will give you the opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Your guide will take you to the center: Constitution Square, the House of Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier. Driving down Herod Atticus street you will see the Evzones in their picturesque costume and the Presidential Palace. On your way to the Acropolis you will see the Panathenaic stadium (where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in 1896) and the Athens of the 2nd century A.D., the temple of Olympian Zeus and the Adrian’s Arch. On the Acropolis visit its museum and the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the temple of Athena Nike, the Erechteion and finally, the “harmony between matter and spirit”, the monument that “puts order in the mind”, the Parthenon. Free time for lunch and in the afternoon visit to a winery in the surroundings of Athens (MARKOPOULOS or KOURTIS) situated about 30 km from Athens. Overnight in Athens. Day 3: ATHENS - MYCENAE - NEMEA - EPIDAURUS - NAUPLIA Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning departure for the classical tour which will include visits to local wineries. Leave by the coastal road along the Saronic Gulf to the Canal of Corinth which connects the Ionian Sea with the Aegean Sea (short stop). Drive on to NEMEA area to visit a local winery and then proceed to Mycenae, the Homeric city of the Atreidae – the city “rich in gold” of the ancient poets. See the Lions’ gate, the Royal tombs, the Cyclopean walls,… Depart to Nauplia, through the fertile plain of Argolis, the picturesque town nestling at the foot of a cliff crowned by the mighty ramparts of Palamidi fortress. In the afternoon leave for Epidaurus to visit the theater(4th century B.C.) famous for its astonishing acoustics. Overnight in Nauplia. Day 4: NAUPLIA - TRIPOLIS - OLYMPIA Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning departure to Arcadia department to visit a winery near TRIPOLIS. Afterwards drive on to Olympia passing by the small towns of Megaloupolis and Andritsena. Arrival in Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games. Visit the ruins of the most important monuments in the archeological site such as the temple of Zeus, the sacred Altis, the temple of Hera, the Gymnasium, the Philippeion and so many others. Overnight in Olympia. Day 5: OLYMPIA - PATRAS - DELPHI Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning visit the museum in Olympia which contains the famous Hermes of Praxiteles then leave to Patras to visit the famous ACHAIA KLAUSS winery. In the afternoon take the ferry boat Rion/Antirion and continue to Delphi with a short stop in the picturesque town of Nafpaktos (Lepante) with its Venetian fortress. Arrival in Delphi in the afternoon. Overnight in Delphi. Day 6: DELPHI - LAMIA Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning visit Delphi, the center of the Ancient World, the “Omphalos” (navel) of the Earth – whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic world. In a landscape of majesty and unparalleled beauty lie the ruins of the temple of Apollo Pythios. Visit the various treasure houses and votive offered by ancient cities, the Castalian Springs, the theater and of course the museum which contains masterpieces of ancient sculptures such as the Athlete Agias and the famous bronze Charioteer. In the afternoon drive to the town of Lamia. Overnight in Larissa. Day 7: LAMIA-ATHENS Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning drive to the winery HADZIMICHALIS for a visit and then return to Athens. On the way you will have a short stop at the Thermopylae to see the Leonidas monument. Overnight in Athens Day 8: ATHENS Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport.
